Studies of depressed teens can sharpen our understanding of the signs of teen depression and go beyond the symptoms of teen depresson to clarifying the causes of teen depression. Ultimately, this research direction could go beyond academic knowledge by contributing to a better understanding of teen depression and suicide. This study examined 146 families as to how the roundtrip commute time of parents related to the scores of young adolescents who completed the Children’s Depression Inventory. Related commuting variables were also examined as were adolescent scores on the Friendship Quality Scale. The researcher recommends that this study be read within the context relevant articles in the journal of youth and adolescence.
